2007 PINK RIBBON RIDE

Every man (woman) and their dog was there

Wednesday

PIGEON FAMILY

MUM

DAD

THE 2 KIDS

This is her second lot to hatch out this Spring. They were having a flying lesson and they all left two days later.

Tuesday

Baby sitting

I have been looking after my sons dogs for the past week, so decided to take some shots of them.

SPRING

You know it's spring once the fruit trees start to blossom.

Sunday

IBIS

I assume the overflow bowls where designed for people to give their dogs a drink when out walking, as this area is quite dog friendly. The birds make good use of them.

Saturday

Female Kangaroo

We had this little female come right up close to where we were working in the yard. Went and got the camera but didn't think she would still be there. Pleased to be proved wrong sometimes.

ROUND ROBIN CHALLENGE- TALISMAN

This one was easy, as a couple of years ago I had a major car accident, that resulted in multiple fractures and injuries. Not to mention one car written off. It took a long time to recover and despite not remembering the accident, I was a bit nervous when driving. A friend from work gave me a gardian angel for the car. She hangs from the windscreen wiper knob. The photo is a bit on the boring side, but there is no way to make it more interesting.

FATHERS DAY

Stuart Dempster-22/3/1925 - 25/11/2006

A wonderful father and grandfather who is missed and remembered not just today but every day.

Wednesday

RAIN
We have finally had a litle bit of rain, that has put some water in the tanks and dams. The wind that came with it whipped up the waves and sand at the Goldcoast, so I went down to see if I could get some shots of the result.
A lone walker.

There were a couple of people who had braved the elements to have a look.

ROUND ROBIN

The ROBINS challenge this week is THINGS WITH WINGS

Well just a few of my favourite things happen to have wings, Bees, Butterflies, Dragonflies, Birds, and of course I love planes because they can take you to lovely exotic places where you can photograph new species of bees, butterflies, birds etc. So with that in mind I will stick with Aussie things with wings.

Australian Black Swan, with one damaged wing.

Lorikeet, who knows how pretty he is.

I'm even prettier when I show of my wings. There is actually no way to tell a he from a she they both have exactly the same colours and markings. The male is more likely to dispay his wings to get the females attention. What, you say a MALE show off to get attention. Never! He's walking toward the camera because he can see his reflection.

Pacific Black Ducks enjoying the sunshine and a Black Winged Stilt just passing by.

Australian Pelican who is a big boy and doesn't need a night light.

I may be big but I can still soar like an eagle with these wings

Now you will have to take my word for it, but that is the flying kangaroo (Qantas) in the left hand corner. This was taken just at the top of the gateway bridge. This is a toll bridge and they put up the price on a regular basis so your money develops wings and disappears. Of course this is the quickest and easiest route to the airport.

Jetstar the cheap version of Qantas. Well they had to do something with their old planes, wouldn't want to be wrecking their perfect record now, would they?

REDCLIFF BIRDS

We went up to Redcliff yesterday and took heaps of photos. I don't know why it's called Redcliff. No cliffs and nothing that is red.
He likes a night light

As this one flew past I realised he had a fish and just quickly snapped a shot.

Wednesday

SIGN Caught my eye as I went past.

Monday

How many men does it take to change a light globe?

3 by the looks of this photo. One to do the work, one to instruct hom how, and one to watch.

I took these photos down in the Brisbane dock area. This part has a lake with islands where the various birds can be safe from everything except the camera.

THE WHITE SHEEP OF THE FAMILY

Saturday

POINSETTIA

They are at their best at the present and I think it's due to the unseasonal cold weather we have been having.

Thursday

The round robin challenge for this week is GIMME GIMME and was suggested by Karen

Now this one had me thinking, because I knew the dog wouldn't stand still while I got a shot. Her GIMME GIMME is to bounce up and down on the spot.

Do I want more money? I work so Yes.

Do I want a better/bigger house? Yes

Do I want a better /latest camera? Yes

Yes these wants could go on forever, but thats all they are WANTS . Do I need these things? NO

So what do I really want/need ?

MORE TIME.

"GIMME GIMME"

As I have gotten past 50 I have had this dreadful feeling as if time is running out.

How do I fit in everything I still want to do/experience/feel.

Yes I may as well be asking the meaning of life.

"GIMME GIMME" MORE TIME

The small sign on the arch in front of the red car says Macdonalds and it really is. Brings a whole new meaning to the golden arches. No I don't need more time to eat more burgers. All the clock pics were taken in Freidburgh Germany.

Wednesday

The Road Less Travelled

This is a typical dirt road in country Victoria and they usually lead to a property, not from town to town. Even though when I was younger these were usually my fathers favourite short cuts. So we would bounce along for miles, taking hours longer to reach our destination and there was never anyone in sight to ask directions. Actually that would have been pointless anyway as Dad never turned around unless the road ran out.
