Birds - In my tree yesterday.

This photo was taken from my back deck looking back towards brisbane.
In this area we get a lot of native birds visiting the garden. Most of my trees and shrubs are Australian natives that provide the parrots and lorikeets with food. They also tolerate the dry periods better.

Rainbow Lorikeet- This photo was taken 2 years ago in my front garden. This area of the garden only gets watered with grey water and natural rainfall.

I planted a grevillea in the spot where the hibiscus that I lost was. It is a lovely fire red, according to the picture but I will have to wait and see. Decided not to replace the other one, will use it's loss as an opportunity to redo that area of the garden.

CARDINAL CREEPER This is one of my favourite plants and I had forgotten that it flowers in autumn, so arriving home to see it's wonderful display was a joy. I have it going over an archway so the flowers hang down all the way around it.

HOME I arrived home after 8 months away expecting to find my garden a mess, with few plants surviving due to the extreme summer that Queensland experienced. I was surprised to find that except for a few older hybicus everything else had made it through. While I was weeding I discovered the frog below. We have heaps of them all year round but they usually hide in dark enclosed places during the day. This is one of my roses. The photo was taken early morning so the dew drops are real and not sprayed on.

Just off Portobella Road London- As soon as I saw it the camera was out.

ROME- This is at the very base of the building. It is (as with most of the features) mirror reversed on the other side. These are either side of the steps that head to the war memorial. Will show that tomorrow.
