CHURCH WINDOW

STEVEN HELP!

I found this in the garden when I was weeding. Hope Steven from Sometimes can identify it for me. Sorry it's such a lousy photo.

Sunday

Morning views

Took the morning photos during a long weekend spent up the coast in 2005. Experimented with the camera on different settings. Well most were on RAW and usually they process nicely but with these I couldn't get them to come up past thumbnail size. Nearly deleted them at the time, but then just left them, so when I came across them yesterday I decided to have one last go.

Feathered Friends

January Morning

The series of morning photos were all taken on the same morning. I was up early (5am) and these photos were taken between then and 6.30 am.
MORNING

Just a pity I didn't have a decent zoom lens to really do justice to the sun just appearing through the cloud.
CLOUDY MORNING

The bright area is the sun reflecting off the water. Taken early morning (30/1/2005) from a park in the sunshine coast hinterland looking down towards the coast.

Friday

FIRST
The first photo I took of snow that had been falling long enough to stay on the ground. Had arrived in Lucerne and was disappointed to find that while the mountains had snow on them there wasn't any on the streets. Woke up at 1am looked out the window to this view. Opened the window and snapped of a couple of shots with my Sony. Had a wonderful day wandering around taking heaps of really nice photos. But this one always reminds me of that first excitment of discovering it was snowing.

ROUND ROBIN CHALLENGE

The challenge for this week is cold and having moved from Victoria (southern state of Australia) to Queensland because of how much warmer it is, I thought I was well qualified to join in. In Victoria the temperature would get down to below zero by a few degrees in winter and it did snow in some of the montain areas. But we mainly just got wet, windy and frosty.
Up here I don't have a fireplace or permanent heater just have a small portable that goes on for a few days at the end of July.
Frosty Devon morning

Then I travelled and lived in Devon and I was very excited to see the fields covered in a thick frost. So much so that I was up and out taking photos before the sun came up. My feet were wet and freezing by the time I got home.

Snow from dirty window of the bus.
Then it snowed, just before I left for work so photos were taken from the bus on the way. The guys at work were very amused at my excitment (Yes I had seen snow twice before), and laughed when I asked would the snow still be on the ground that night. (well it hadn't been on my last experience at least 15 years earlier)

Went to Bruge for Christmas and travelled from London by train. Couldn't believe the size of the flakes.

March saw me in Switzerland and I thought it was cold. But this little guy happily posed in his warm clothes. Yes and I had layer after layer on.

Full sized doorway but they had only managed to dig out that far from the top.

But then I went to Germany. The sun was shinning and it was lovely clear days. You could see the remnants of the snow on the ground and despite my layers I was freezing cold.

Icicles forming on the twigs and debris as the icy cold water rushes by.

Took some photos of interesting buildings and wondered what was hanging from the dragon

Cropped to see the detail

There was no water dripping from the icicle so there was no warmth in the sun.

Still can't believe how cold it was.
