Seaside daisy

LadyBird
The ladybird was on a rose leaf otherwise I would never have noticed him

Now I sort of think this is a butterfly

Shrub, that I think has the common name of geisha girl. It's flowers weep down and when it is in full bloom looks really lovely.

ROUND ROBINS - ABC'S of AUTUMN
KINDEST MONTHS
I moved to Queensland because I hated the winter weather in Victoria. However I hadn't realised how much I would miss Autumn, which of course happens in the months of March, April and May in the southern hemisphere. I think of them as the kindest months as they come after the long hot humid days of summer. Even in Victoria they were a relief from very hot dry heat with Febuary being the worst. It was as if summer was having a last hurrah, just as we returned to school after the summer holidays.

Up here we have lots of palm trees and evergreens, besides it doesn't get cold enough for the trees to lose there leaves until the winter months. The display is, one of a bit of yellow then they drop. So I miss the beautiful change and variety of colours and the sound of leaves rustling and crunching beneath your feet. These 3 photos were taken in the UK last year.

Tuesday

Yesterday in the garden
Went on the daily quest for dragonflies. Saw heaps even identified that there were 2 different varieties flying around. But did I get even a hint of a photo!!! I'm starting to think that one would have to land on the lens for me to get a shot. But this flying beetle did his best to attract my attention. Then I tried moving the branch to get a better angle and he flew away.

Looked it up in the gardening book and discovered Apple Blossom is the name of this colour of hippeastrum.

This is one of those little tiny miniture roses. It is growing in a pot, sitting in the garden and I barley noticed the bud. It was the larger flower that is open behind it that caught my eye, while looking for butterflies.

Monday

HIPPEASTRUM (Barbados Lily)

A bulb with trumpet shaped flowers that are native to South America. There are heaps of different colours and most of the ones I've seen are really bright reds and pinks. Got these from a nursery that was closing down and they were not in flower, so was surprised to find they were mainly green in colour.

Insect? FLY? Butterfly
Now I'll have to buy a book on insects to identify what I take photos of.

He seemed to make a buzzing noise as he moved around because I thought it was a dragonfly until I caught sight of him.

Same shaped eyes as butterflies.
Grevillea & Bottle Brush (Callistemon)
I have been gardening and will be visiting Bunnings to buy some more plants to fill the garden I have just prepared, so thought these photos were appropriate for today.
I have numerous different varieties and colours in grevilleas, but only have red bottle brushes
